Northern lights photo dump and everything you must Northern lights photo dump and everything you must know about chasing them 🙌 Iceland is a dream for Northern Lights chasers. We were lucky to see the green lady 5/10 times in our Iceland trip. Some days faint, some day mediocre and two times she lit the sky with her grandeur. Here are some things you must know while chasing Northern lights. ✅ Weather plays an important role to see the lights. Make sure you are in a spot that has clear skies and possibly no moon. Dark night can do wonders! ✅ Keep an eye out on the Kp index. The solar winds along with the Kp index plays a huge role in the show. ✅ Don’t go somewhere just for northern lights, but for the destination. There’s a huge chance that you might not run into perfect luck of the weather, solar winds, Kp index and everything aligned. So don’t go with too high of an expectation. The weather in the Arctic can change with a blink of an eye. ✅ They are generally visible from late August to early April in the North direction. It occurs from particle from the sun that enters Earth’s atmosphere and collide with gas atoms. ✅ They are not just visible in winter and cold temperatures. They happen all around the year, however; since it’s seen in Northern latitudes it’s invisible when they have long daylight hours. ✅ And most importantly, you might see a cool pic on social media which looks all easy, but a lot of effort goes in clicking a good picture/ chasing northern lights. You might have to chase between 8pm to 5am and just wait for the show.
